Architecture

Architectural photography is typically, like most types of photography, best off during the golden/blue hours of the day. Just as import, in most cases, is a sky with some excitement to it. Finally, the last major import thing to be aware of is low wind. Wind isn't going to affect the architecture so much, but it affects your tripod and more importantly, all of the foliage usually found around the structure.

Wind will make sharp photos difficult.

            • CLOUDS: The best landscape photos are when there is the right amount and type of clouds in the sky, with a good balance of clouds and blue sky peaking through.

              Heavy
            • WIND: Wind can make your foreground move or make the trees in the background blur, so the less the better.

              Windy
            • RAINFALL: Getting drenched is not fun nor good for your camera. Rain also subdues the colors. However, if you are lucky, a recent rain, so long as it has moved on, can clean the atmosphere and intensify colors.

              None
            • HAZE: Warmer temperatures tend to induce haze, which cause distant colors and contrast to be subdued. Additionally, warmer weather tends to wither foliage.

              Cold
            • LIGHT: Having the ideal quality of light gives you the most flexibility in the field. Ideally, you are looking for those golden hours or when its quite cloudy.

            Good conditions for photographing architecture.

            • CLOUDS: The best landscape photos are when there is the right amount and type of clouds in the sky, with a good balance of clouds and blue sky peaking through.

              Heavy
            • WIND: Wind can make your foreground move or make the trees in the background blur, so the less the better.

              Breezy
