Lunar

The moon can be found both during the day and night. Similar to other forms of astrophotography, the presence of clouds only get in the way. Additionally, haze (and warmer temperatures) add unwelcome distortions which means you’ll need your coat and gloves. Remember that the closer the moon is to terrestrial objects, the bigger it appears.

    • CLOUDS: The presence of clouds prevent your camera from seeing the moon, the less of them, the better.

      Heavy
    • HAZE: Haze exponentially reduces the clarity of distant objects. The lower the haze, the more crisp the photos will be.

      Cold
    • RAINFALL: Getting drenched is not fun nor good for your camera. Rain also subdues the colors. However, if you are lucky, a recent rain, so long as it has moved on, can clean the atmosphere and intensify colors.

      None
    • WIND: Calm conditions are ideal for long exposures so that your landscape is static and your tripod is not shaken by the wind.
